Got My First Donation Today!

I'm pretty sure all of you wondered where I went for the past weeks. I didn't have time to update this site and truth be told, I thought it was a hopeless plight with all the negative feedback I was getting from the forums I joined.

But lo and behold, I was surprised when I checked my email and got a $0.01 donation from Mr. C. Faust. For all of you disbelievers out there, don't immediately put off the amount as negligible. The lesson to be learned here is that there are still people who are kind hearted enough to help other people out. I did a Google Search on Mr. Faust and came up with him being connected with a Replacement Windows service.

Thank you Mr. Faust for making me believe in my online quest for self-improvement through photography. To the other individuals who feel my plight and wish to help me, please continue sharing my story. A little donation will also help, if you want to venture that way.

Will I Make It?

The site has now 73 hits. I think I've caught the attention of the people in one forum I signed up for. Hey guys, if you're following this blog, thanks. Don't you find it exciting to see if I'll be able to raise enough to buy a DSLR? I mean, is cyberbegging still possible after Karyn? Especially for a 'luxury' item such as an SLR camera?

Well, who knows? Maybe I'll write to Oprah or Nikon to see if they will help. Okay, don't laugh at me. I'm serious. Maybe I really should. Karyn hasn't replied to my email yet so I don't know what to think. Just have to wait, I guess. Please continue to share my story. 0 comments

Am I Joking?

Remember I signed up for a photo forum and introduced myself and my plight...well, someone replied to my post and said I inspired him to put up a similar site like mine. I think he was just being sarcastic though because he wanted to two Nikon D3s which retailed for $5,599.00 each. He seemed to think I was joking but I did reply to him and said I was serious about raising $700 and thanked him for making me his inspiration. Maybe we could all make the world a better place.

So, am I joking? Definitely not. People have had success asking for donations online and for some, $700 is not even much. But I'm ready for the different reactions this site will gather. For those who have clicked share, please continue supporting me and my site. We're in this together you know. :) Thank you.

If a Donation Isn't an Option, Please Click Share....

This day has been an exciting day for me. I don't see any donation coming in yet(You can do so by clicking the Chip In Widget on the right sidebar and it will take you to a secure Paypal page) but this day has opened my eyes to several things.

First, Twitter is indeed powerful. I set up an account yesterday and I now have 14 followers. If these 14 followers re-tweet my tweets to their followers, then we'll have viral marketing in action. Second, I signed up for two of the most popular photo forums and introduced myself and my plight in the introduction section of each forum. I got a 'hmmmm' comment from one of the forum posters. Now, I know asking for donations to buy an expensive camera gear can raise eyebrows but I'm not rich and I'm not forcing anyone to send donations my way. In fact, if donations are out of the question, then I would rather have you press share to facebook or twitter on the sidebar so you can tell your friends and family about this site.

Another thing I'm most excited about is that I managed to get the guts to write to Karyn Bosnak of savekaryn.com. I told her about my blog and my hopes of following in her footsteps. I wonder if she gets to read my email and if she'll be the first contributor to my Nikon D3100 fund. Let's just wait and see if she replies to my email.

Right now, my blog has 34 hits. Please help me spread the word and click share. To make things even more exciting, you can answer a poll on the sidebar if you think I'll be able to raise $700 before Christmas of 2010 and have a merry Christmas with a new DSLR.

What's In It For Me?

Many people nowadays want something in return for the 'donations' they make. In my case, the only thing I can give you in return for your generosity is a picture taken from my Nikon D3100 when I finally get it. And even if you just share my cause to other people, you'll still get a photo provided that you will send me your email address. This is the only way I can say thanks to all of you who will help me get to my goal.

Moving on, I launched this site yesterday at around 2pm and as of now, 8:40pm I have 25 hits to it. No donations yet but it will soon come with your help. Please spread the word around of the plight of a work at home mom who wants to prove that people still have good hearts and are willing to spare a dollar to give her the DSLR of her dreams.

Taking the First Step to My Nikon D3100

Today, I created this blog with high hopes of being able to raise $700 on the internet for a Nikon D3100. I don't have any idea if this blog of mine will make it, but I'm determined to get the said camera. A lot of people may misinterpret my intentions of putting up this blog.

I'm ready to be called as a panhandler, but in truth, I'm just someone who knocks on the generosity of people willing to help out a good cause. I'm not suffering in anyway and I'm thankful for that, but I don't have extra money to indulge myself into a new hobby. I'm also working towards this $700 goal, but I can only put in little money at a time because of family responsibilities.

Photography has always fascinated me and with a DSLR, I know I will be able to build on my innate talent. Please check on the pages above to get a good idea of what this site is for and what you can do to help me.

Today, I saved $8 (cost of a domain name) that will go to my Nikon D3100 fund because I decided to have it hosted here at Blogger for free. These little things and your donations will be carefully updated and listed so we can all celebrate together when I get my camera. :)

Thank you. 0 comments
